More recently, the New York Power Authority, a state entity that brokers power, negotiated a contract to purchase 72 megawatts of wind power for various city government agencies, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Port Authority, to purchase power from two farms in upstate New York--Maple Ridge Wind Farm and the Madison Wind Farm, the largest wind farm east of the Mississippi.
In 2004, Wind Power Pty Ltd landed government approval to build a 52-turbine wind farm in the rural area of Bald Hills, but then the locals protested, writing more than 1,500 letters to the planning board.
Wojick erects meteorological towers for corporate clients to assess whether the wind regime is suitable for wind farm development.
