Whenever an xSP offers a new service that subscribers perceive as better value, they will switch.
According to Anne Burris, who is worldwide xSP strategy manager for Hewlett-Packard, the term "xSP" is broad enough to cover them all: "An xSP is a service provider, coming from any industry, no matter the specialty, that offers goods or services over the Internet for a fee.
As businesses rely more on their xSPs for mission critical transactions and business processes, they will demand high availability solutions beyond those offered in traditional hosting models," said Laurie Seymour, xSP Program Manager for IDC.
