Yellow-Throated Marten
(Martes flavigula), a predatory mammal of the family Mustelidae. The body length is 55–80 cm, and the tail length is about 40 cm (sometimes longer). The weight may reach 5.7 kg. The body is elongate, the legs short, and the tail sparsely haired. The pelt is coarse, short-haired, and shiny; its coloration is a combination of black-brown, white, and golden yellow. The yellow-throated marten is found in Southeast Asia; in the USSR it occurs in the Far East. The mammal, a forest inhabitant, is an agile tree climber. It feeds mainly on rodents and birds but also attacks small ungulates, including musk deer. The yellow-throated marten has no commercial significance. It often preys upon useful animals, including commercially valuable ones. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
