It is building prototype equipment for a new method of making cadmium zinc telluride crystals.
The fan-beam design of PRODIGY uses a state-of-the-art cadmium zinc telluride detector that allows rapid scanning at 10X lower dose for these applications.
The current state-of-the-art MCT materials are typically grown on bulk cadmium zinc telluride (CdZnTe) substrates using a technique called liquid phase epitaxy (LPE).
