(Z LIBrary) A set of compression/decompression routines written by Jean-loup Gailly and Mark Adler that is widely used in Linux and Unix operating systems. Zlib is open source and royalty-free software, and unlike the LZW compression algorithm, zlib does not increase the file size. For more information, visit www.gzip.org/zlib.

01 Parallel Compression on the Cell Broadband Engine with CZIP David Thigpen, Andy Anderson University of Mississippi The goal of the study was to parallelize the ZLIB compression library for the cell broadband engine.
This server support includes Windows specific driver support to allow customers to use the AHA363-PCIE board as the compression engine, rather than software GZIP and/or ZLIB.
Other applications that use the ZLIB library, can utilize the AHA363-PCIe board by means of the AHA363-PCIe ZLIB library interface.
