Štrbské Pleso

 

a mountain climatic health resort in Czechoslovakia, in the Slovak Socialist Republic, in the Tatra Mountains. Štrbské Pleso is situated on the shore of the lake of the same name, at an elevation of 1,350 m. Winters are mild, with an average January temperature of –5.6°C; summers are moderately warm, with an average July temperature of 14.3°C. Precipitation is 955 mm annually. Štrbské Pleso has a sanatorium for children and adults suffering from respiratory diseases other than tuberculosis. The health resort also has facilities for tourism, skiing, and mountain climbing.
