C5H11OH A toxic organic alcohol; 1-pentanol is n-amyl alcohol, primary; 2-pentanol is methylpropylcarbinol; 3-pentanol is diethylcarbinol; tert-pentanol is tert-amyl alcohol; pentanols are used in pharmaceuticals, as chemical intermediates, and as solvents.
