6DOF

(6 Degrees Of Freedom) The amount of motion supported in a robotics or virtual reality system. Six degrees provides X, Y and Z (horizontal, vertical and depth) and pitch, yaw and roll. Three degrees of freedom (3DOF) provides X, Y and Z only. See pitch-yaw-roll.

We also described a parallel motion estimation, mapping, and global pose optimization algorithm that enable our system to output the 6DoF sensor pose and reconstruct consistent 3D map in real time.
Since 6DOF data contain both positional and rotational components, three different strategies of data handling are possible in the search for the best rotation: 1) use only the positional part of 6DOF data; 2) use only the rotational part; or 3) use both the positional and the rotational parts.
With this modification, the method was tested in a purely monocular 6DOF SLAM context, for obtaining more insight about the performance of the visual aiding.
After meshing in different faces, 6DOF model is utilized to obtain dynamic characteristics of plunger without designation of motion law of plunger.
