(IPv6 over Low-power Wireless Personal Area Networks) An enhancement to the 802.15.4 group of personal area network (PAN) protocols that adds support for the larger IPv6 addresses. Bluetooth 4.2 added 6LoWPAN to enable devices to connect directly to the Internet. See 802.15, Bluetooth 4.2 and IPv6.

6LoWPAN is a technology that aims to use IPv6 over the Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor networks, through the IEEE 802.11.4 standard.
This technique is managed and controlled by the distribution of WSANs in the lecture halls, laboratories, and faculty members' offices in the assigned building using the communication protocols such as ZigBee and 6LoWPAN. Such protocols are integrated into a large number of home automation devices that are usually integrated with computation and sensing; WSAN devices are available commercially with low cost and radio communication capabilities [26] systems, most with small size and low power features.
