The fruiting body or sporocarp of rust fungi.

Aecium

 

one of the types of sporiferous structures of rust fungi. Each aecium has a peridium; the aeciospores are produced in strings within. The genus name Aecidium is applied to some rust fungi that do not exhibit other types of sporiferous structures.

Observaciones: en varias ocasiones se ha observado una estrecha relacion de esta especie con Aecidium favaceum Arthur; asi se encuentra consignado en las notas de herbario de Arthur y en Joerstad (1956), es posible que exista tal relacion.
