* IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) was formed by the merger of American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE) and the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) in 1963.
Both were members of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE); in 1889, they were joined by Farmer's associate William Wallace and nineteen of Edison's workers.
