AVC-Intra

(Advanced Video Coding-Intra) An HD video format in professional Panasonic camcorders that employs the high-level modes of the H.264/AVC standard. Introduced in 2007 for electronic news gathering (ENG), AVC-Intra uses intraframe coding for high-quality editing in contrast to AVCHD, an H.264 interframe format (see AVCHD and interframe coding).

AVC-Intra records 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions with greater accuracy by using 10 bits per pixel for compression. Bit rates are 50 and 100 Mbps. AVC-Intra 50 scales horizontal resolution from 1920 to 1440 pixels and from 1280 to 960 and uses 4:2:0 color sampling. AVC-Intra 100 improves colors with 4:2:2.

AVC-Ultra
In 2012, Panasonic debuted its highest-quality video format. AVC-Ultra includes 4:4:4 color sampling, 12-bit pixel compression and 440 Mbps. It also offers a 25 Mbps "Proxy AV" mode for fast previewing. See H.264, HD formats, 10-bit pixel compression and chroma subsampling.

The new storage array supports up to 30 concurrent streams at 50Mbps (for example, DV50, AVC-Intra 50 and XDCAM 422) or up to 10 streams at 150Mbps (for example, HQ and AVC-Intra 1 00) spread to clients with QoS bandwidth assignments.
In addition to AVC-Intra 100 recording, the HPX250 also records in AVC-Intra 50, industry-standard DVCPRO HD, as well as standard definition in DVCPRO50, DVCPRO and DV.
AVC-Intra provides high-quality 10-bit intra-frame encoding in two modes: AVC-Intra 100 for full-raster mastering video quality, and AVC-Intra 50 for DVCPRO HD quality at half the bit rate, thereby doubling the record time on a P2 card.
264 in two modes: AVC-Intra 100 for full-raster mastering video quality and AVC-Intra 50 Mbps for DVCPRO HD quality at half the bit rate, thereby doubling the record time on a P2 card.
Tailor-made for feature films, television episodic and commercial production, the VariCam 3700 records in full-raster 1920x1080 resolution in AVC-intra 100, and records in AVC-Intra 50 and DVCPRO HD as well.
The camera also supports recording in a more bandwidth efficient AVC-Intra 50 compression as well as the ubiquitous DVCPRO HD.
When the 64GB P2 cards become available, a single card will provide more than four hours of DVCPRO footage (64 GB X 4 minutes per GB); more than two hours of DVCPRO50, AVC-Intra 50 (64 GB X 2 minutes per GB) or 64 minutes of AVC-Intra 100 or DVCPRO HD.
