i. The earth's atmosphere and the space beyond it; it is considered a zone available for the flight of aircraft and spacecraft. It extends from the earth's surface outward through the atmosphere to the farthest part of the observable universe. The earth's atmosphere and space above are two separate entities but are considered a single realm for activity in the launch, guidance, and control of vehicles that will travel in both entities.
