Alampiev, Petr Martynovich

 

Born Jan. 15, 1900, in the village of Ivanovka, Volchansk District, Kharkov Province. Soviet economic geographer. Doctor of economics, 1956.

Alampiev was head of the section on international division of labor, part of the Institute of the Economy of the World Socialist System under the USSR Academy of Sciences. His main researches have been on general economic geography, the economic geography of Kazakhstan, and international socialist division of labor. His chief works are Economic Regionalization of the USSR (books 1–2, 1959–63), The Elimination of Economic Inequality of the Peoples of the Soviet East and Socialist Distribution of Industry (1958), and Geographic Problems of the Development of the Major Economic Regions of the USSR (1964, coauthor).
