Alzamai

 

a city (a settlement until 1955) in Irkutsk Oblast, RSFSR. It has a railroad station and is situated on the Toporok River (Angara basin), 70 km southeast of Taishet. Population in 1968, 13,500. There is much timber exploitation in the area, and Alzamai is the site of forestry collectives, a chemical forestry farm, and timber combines.
