Ambrolauri

 

a city (a settlement until 1966), the center of Ambrolauri Raion, Georgian SSR. It is situated on both banks of the Rioni River, 42 km northeast of Tkibuli railroad station, to which it is connected by a highway. Population in 1968, 4,400. There are food industry enterprises—wine-making, canning, lemonade, and fruit juice plants—as well as woodworking and the manufacture of building materials in the city. Ambrolauri is the site of an agricultural technicum, a national theater, and a museum of fine arts.
