Anaerostat

 

a device for culturing anaerobic bacteria. An anaerostat is an airtight metal cylindrical vessel from which oxygen has been removed (by pumping out the air, by absorption using a pyrogallol base solution, by burning phosphorus in the anaerostat, and by combining with hydrogen in the presence of platinum).
