Anderson, George W.

Anderson, George W. (Whelan)

(1906–  ) naval officer, diplomat; born in New York City. He was the assistant to the deputy commander of the Pacific Fleet and Pacific Ocean Areas (1944–45). Later he served as chief of naval operations (1961–63) and ambassador to Portugal (1963–66).
