Location:20 miles south of Carmel on Highway 1.
Facilities:Primitive walk-in trail camp with 24 sites (limit 4 people per site), hiking trails, biking trails, horseback trails, picnic areas, visitor center, exhibits, restrooms.
Activities:Camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, surfing, horseback riding, beachcombing.
Special Features:Located in the Big Sur area, this park is still relatively undeveloped and offers visitors great hiking, fishing, and beachcombing. The beach is located a mile from the highway at its closest point and is rarely crowded.

To the south, the 8,814-acre Rancho El Sur grant passed through several owners, including Governor Juan Bautista Alvarado, finally coming into the hands of Captain John Rogers Cooper, whose family legacy is preserved today through the Andrew Molera State Park (named for Cooper's grandson).
