Angel, James (Roger Prior)

(1941–  ) astronomer; born in St. Helens, England. He came to America to teach at Columbia (1967–74), moved to the University of Arizona (1974) and is noted for research on white dwarf stars and quasars. Director of the University of Arizona's Steward Observatory Mirror Laboratory, he assisted construction of the largest American telescope mirror since the 1930s.
