anneal

[ə′nēl]
(engineering)
To treat a metal, alloy, or glass with heat and then cool to remove internal stresses and to make the material less brittle. Also known as temper.
(genetics)
To recombine strands of complementary deoxyribonucleic acid that were separated by heating or other means of denaturation.

anneal

To take the brittleness out of metal, plastic or certain carbon composites. Performed in the preparation of new products or in their restoration, annealing is accomplished via a heat treating process.

Martinis's confidence in his team's hardware even has him thinking he can build Google an alternative to a quantum annealer that would be even more powerful.
The annealer used a continuous roll-charting system and they had to find the specific job on a two-month chart-paper roll, cut it out of the roll, make a copy and tape the reading back into the chart.
Using innovative equipment components, such as a replacement diffusion furnace element with potential to save up to 20 percent in power consumption, and a thermal annealer that uses one-fourth the energy required by conventional, lamp-style annealers
Fujitsu Laboratories has now developed technology that makes it possible to find a solution of sufficient precision without the need to set complicated parameters by incorporating circuits that automatically control parameters based on the results of observations of the conditions within the Digital Annealer during performance.
Fujitsu has also developed Digital Annealer,(2) which is a new architecture that rivals current quantum computers in handling an array of real-world issues, while leading the development of advanced technologies in fields requiring quantum computing technologies.
