Karangetang

Karangetang or Api Siau, volcano, 5,896 ft (1,797 m) high, Siau Island, North Sulawesi province, Indonesia. One of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, the stratovolcano has five summit craters and can produce pyroclastic flows and lahars. The earliest recorded eruption was in 1675; a major eruption in 1974 led to the evacuation of the entire island.
