In September 1985 (after about 150 trials), the target selection procedure was simplified and the target was obtained by means of a "PEEK ()" instruction in Applesoft BASIC
that obtained a single byte from the RNG.
Programming courses for teachers continue to be taught on Apple II equipment, since Applesoft BASIC
is the most commonly available language for teachers in the Houston area.
We created our own data base management program for microbiology, using Applesoft Basic language.
McConnell had learned Applesoft Basic at home on her own Apple II Plus.
I therefore wrote a program for the Apple II Plus computer (using Applesoft BASIC
) to compute the susceptibility percentage for each organism that the drugs were tested on (Figure I).
To convert the file back to an Applesoft program, execute it from the Applesoft BASIC
environment and save the program under a modified name.
