a gentle uplift of the earth’s crust over a wide area; in horizontal section it exhibits a round, oval, or irregular shape. Tectonic arches are widespread on cratons and in folded regions that have been involved in orogenic processes. The growth of tectonic arches may be associated with the formation of a rift system.
