Arcology

A conception of architecture (1969) involving the fusion of architecture and ecology, proposed by Paolo Soleri, an Italian architect living in America. Arcology is Soleri’s solution to urban problems. He proposed vast vertical structures capable of housing millions of inhabitants. One of Soleri’s’ visionary projects, Arcosanti (illus.), is being constructed north of Phoenix in Meyer, AZ.
