Despite the variety of excellent contributions, however, 1 found some parts of the theoretical interpretation problematic; indeed, there is still a tendency to designate the Assotsiatsiia sovremennoi muzyki (Association of Contemporary Music; ASM) members (i.e., the modernists) as either liberal thinkers, resisters to the regime, or inert conformists.
