Atbashi

 

a mountain range in the southern part of the Inner Tien-Shan in the Kirghiz SSR.

The Atbashi extends from the west-southwest to the east-northeast, separating the Atbashi Hollow in the north from the Chatyrkel’ Hollow and the Aksai Divide in the south. The range is 135 km long, with elevations of up to 4,786 m. The Atbashi is composed of Paleozoic metamorphic shales, limestones, sandstones, and some igneous rocks (granites and syenites). On the crest of the range there are glacial forms and some modern glaciation (with an area of approximately 150 sq km). Mountain meadows and subniv-ean landscapes prevail in the Atbashi.

The stone laying ceremony for the trade center at the Naryn Free Economic Zone took place in Atbashi rayon, Naryn oblast in presence of Naryn oblast governor Omurbek Suvanaliev, reported Naryn oblast governor's press service.A new trade center will be constructed on Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart highway according to the administrative order of the government of April 16, 2008.The center itself, its storages and areas for packing, sorting will occupy 24 hectares of land.The Naryn oblast governor said construction of the trade center would foster social infrastructure of the region and would decrease domestic migration.
The President said the village near Atbashi water power station should be supplied with a drinking water.
President Kurmanbek Bakiev on Thursday met with several thousands residents of Naryn oblast at Tenir-Too central square in the town of Naryn, reported presidenteCOs press office.President Bakiev said he visited Atbashi water power station, where he inspected progress of rehabilitation works carried out form the funds given by the Government of Switzerland (2.300 million francs).
