During a plane captain preflight inspection of the engine compartment of an SH-60B, Petty Officer Ramosruano noticed a missing torque stripe on the
B-nut for the load-demand-spindle (LDS) cable.
Pilot-services-panel "
B-nut" torque was established (incorporated in IETM May 2004 release).
Additional examination of the wastegate oil inlet hose at the
B-nut revealed that 4-5 threads were engaged and the
B-nut was finger loose.
He found a cracked
B-nut in an obstructed location on the underside of the No.
The crack was found on the end
B-nut taper at the fuel control.
Petty Officer Johnson also found a loose "
B-nut" on the engine-start pump while troubleshooting a leak on a different aircraft.
Post-crash examination revealed the
B-nut fitting securing the fuel line to the fuel flow transducer was loose.
