fuel made from natural, renewable sources, such as new and used vegetable oils and animal fats, for use in a diesel enginediesel engine,
type of internal-combustion engine invented by the German engineer Rudolf Diesel and patented by him in 1892. Although his engine was designed to use coal dust as fuel, the diesel engine now burns fuel oil.

. Biodiesel has physical properties very similar to petroleum-derived diesel fuel, but its emission properties are superior. Using biodiesel in a conventional diesel engine substantially reduces emissions of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, sulfates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, nitrated polycyclic aromtic hydrocarbons, and particulate matter. Diesel blends containing up to 20% biodiesel can be used in nearly all diesel-powered equipment, and higher-level blends and pure biodiesel can be used in many engines with little or no modification. Lower-level blends are compatible with most storage and distribution equipment, but special handling is required for higher-level blends.

Biodiesel is made from oils or fats, which are hydrocarbons. Fresh soybean oil is most commonly used, although biodiesel can be made from mustard seed oil or waste vegetable oil (such as used oil from restaurant deep fryers). These hydrocarbons are filtered and mixed with an alcohol, such as methanol, and a catalyst (sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide), resulting in a chemical reaction whose major products are the biodiesel fuel and glycerolglycerol,
or 1,2,3-propanetriol
, CH2OHCHOHCH2OH, colorless, odorless, sweet-tasting, syrupy liquid. Glycerol is a trihydric alcohol. It melts at 17.

As the region's first fully operational sustainable community, The Sustainable City (TSC) has used B100 biodiesel to fuel the construction of new buildings, including a school which opened in January and the soon-to-open autism centre, in phase 2 of its development programme.
Three different fuels were used in this research: 100% diesel, 100% biodiesel (B100), and a volumetric blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% diesel (B20).
By powering city buses with B100 from ET Process[R], cities can become greener with less air pollution and more sustainable with reduction in waste grease, all at a lower cost.
"B100 biodiesel minimises nearly all forms of air pollution and particularly greenhouse gases, so while protecting the environment, it will also allow us to maintain the pure, clean and untainted environment that our residents enjoy at the community.
The relative emission rates for B5, B20, B50, B80, and B100 during vehicle operation were determined based on the experimental emission reports of diesel engines using biodiesel blends [12, 26].
It is clear that carbon steel shows the highest corrosion rates in B100 both in the control and in experimental systems followed by CD, B5, and B20.
Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance analysis of B100 and B100-H ([sup.1]H NMR) was carried out to confirm that the above hydrogenation and transesterification reactions took place.
Serum apolipoprotein A1 (APO-A1), apolipoprotein B100 (APO-B100) and lipoprotein-(a) (LPA) were measured in the Pathology Laboratories of Postgraduate Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar using turbiditrimetric kits of Roche Diagnostics, on chemistry auto analyzer, modular P-800 by Roche, Cobas (Japan).
The subject property is just off the Belt Parkway exit 11N and 11S, on the main corridor of Flatbush Avenue with local B9, B41 and B100 buses and, one mile from the 2 and 5 subway lines on the Flatbush Ave/Brooklyn
While the Neutral Fuels announcement did not specify the blend Dubai's municipal vehicles will use, Feilder said he expected it will be B5 for the vehicles which then were within their Euro 3/4 warranty, B5, B20 and B100 for those which were outside their warranty, and B20 and B100 for those yet to be acquired.
