Baker, Chet

Baker, (Chesley) Chet

(1929–87) jazz musician; born in Yale, Okla. He was a popular trumpeter who emerged with the Gerry Mulligan Quartet in 1952–53. He freelanced thereafter, but his career was hampered by drug addiction and prison sentences in the U.S.A. and Europe.
