Baladzhary

 

an urban-type settlement in Azerbaijan SSR, which in fact forms part of the Kirov City-raion of Baku. Population in 1968, 16,700. It has a large railroad station on the line to Rostov-on-Don and Tbilisi. There are rail transport enterprises, a paint and varnish factory, and a cement and asphalt factory. Petroleum is extracted nearby. The Gigant poultry combine, the largest in the republic, is located in Baladzhary.
