Basicity

(in metallurgy), the ratio (in percent by weight) of basic and acidic oxides in iron ore materials (iron ore, sinter, and pellets), and also in blast-furnace and steel-smelting slag. Basicity defines the chemical composition and metallurgical properties of such materials. In the simplest case, basicity is defined as the ratio of CaO to SiO2 or of the total of CaO and MgO to that of SiO2 and Al2O3. The processing of iron ore materials requires the calculation of natural basicity and the basicity produced by the addition of flux. Basicity may vary from several tenths of a unit to 2–3.

On the other hand, for Ho promoted catalysts, the increase in CO2 conversion was credited to the relatively higher basicity of these catalysts than un- promoted catalyst (Fig.
Thus, it can be stated the constants denoting acidity and basicity obtained with Gutmann's approach in Table 4 are only approximate values, at least in this study.
The overall increase in montmorillonite content as well as due to influence of other concomitant minerals (kaolinite, hydromica, zeolite) surface basicity of the samples raised about two times and surface acidity by 1.
The strong basicity of PS is due (in part at least) to the way of N atoms to stabilize H+ of the acid form by forming a strong hydrogen bond.
Hence, the objectives of this study were to evaluate the basicity, acid neutralization capacity and physical properties of CPC-[Ca.
The quantities of the carboxyl groups, the combined acidity of the 3 functional groups (carboxyls+lactones +phenols), total surface acidity (carboxyls + lactones + phenols + additional acidic species), and surface basicity of the biochars are presented in Table 5.
Therefore, the variation of the basicity of the slags is based on the evaluation of the static state of the solidified melt.
de Nice-Sophia Antipolis-CNRS, France) should allow for the judicious choices of a few reference Lewis acids in order to construct Lewis basicity scales that cane be used as a general guide to basicity.
It has excellent compatibility with polyolefins and offers low basicity so there is less chance of chemical interaction.
Among heterogeneous catalysts, CaO is of interest due to its high basicity, low solubility, low price, and long lifetime (Liu et al.
The steric shielding of the free electron pair in the nitrogen atom of the amine and its reduced basicity enhance its effectiveness as a stabilizer.
