Bayard, James Asheton, Sr.

(1767–1815) U.S. representative/senator; born in Philadelphia. Elected to the House of Representatives (Fed., Del.; 1797–1803) and to the U.S. Senate (1804–13), he was a signatory of the Treaty of Ghent, ending the War of 1812.
