Location:Off Palisades Parkway, 45 miles north of New York City.
Facilities:Lodging, restaurant, picnic areas (é), playground, playing fields (é), nature trail, hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trail, ski jumps, swimming pool, small boat dockage (é), boat rentals, skating rink (é), zoo, museum/visitor center and gift shop (é), lookout point.
Activities:Boating (no power boats), fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, ice skating.
Special Features:Atop Bear Mountain, Perkins Memorial Tower affords views of the park, the Hudson highlands, and Harriman State Park (see separate entry). Lodging and fine dining are offered at historic Bear Mountain Inn. The park's merry-go-round features hand-painted scenes of the park and 42 hand-carved seats of native animals.
