Beaufort Rise
a submarine rise in the northern Arctic Ocean in the plain of the Amundsen Bay. A wide step in the continental shelf, it makes a smooth transition westward into the Canadian Hollow. The depth above the rise is 1,000–2,500 m. It was named for the English admiral F. Beaufort.
