Beketov, Platon Petrovich
Born 1761; died 1836. Russian publisher, bibliographer, historian, and iconographer.
Beketov strove in book publishing to continue in part the line of N. I. Novikov. In 1801 and 1811 he published works of A. N. Radishchev, in spite of a ban. He left a large collection of several hundred painted and engraved portraits. From 1811 to 1823 he was the chairman of the Moscow Society of Russian History and Antiquities.
