Bekhterev’s Mixture

 

a medicinal preparation that exerts a calming effect on the central nervous system. Suggested by V. M. Bekhterev, Bekhterev’s mixture is a liquid containing an infusion of the herbage of adonis, sodium bromide (or potassium bromide), and codeine. It is used in neuroses, hysteria, insomnia, and other diseases.
