Belokany

 

a city, the administrative center of Belokany Raion, Azerbaijan SSR. Situated in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, on the Belokanchai River (a tributary of the Alazani), at the Evlakh-Lagodekhi highway, 178 km northwest of the Evlakh railroad junction. Population, 5,100 (1968). There is a tobacco-curing plant, a cannery, and a lumber combine. The city has a polytechnic school. In the Belokany Raion is the Filizchaiskoe polymetallic deposit.
