(mechanical engineering)
A heavy-duty conveyor consisting essentially of a head or drive pulley, a take-up pulley, a level or inclined endless belt made of canvas, rubber, or metal, and carrying and return idlers.

Belt Conveyor

a continuous-operation machine whose operating member is a belt. Belt conveyors are one of the most widely used types of conveyor. It is used for transporting bulk and piece goods horizontally or at a small inclination.

Belgium-based LHOIST also trusted RBL-REI to design and construct a 3.5-km overland belt conveyor, which will deliver lime to a processing plant in Tarnow, Poland.
In accordance with trends in modern industry, in [16], the authors propose the virtual prototype technology thereby providing a new way for the safety analysis and design of the belt conveyor. The authors believe that virtual prototyping enables dynamic analysis of belt conveyor and provides proper knowledge about the belt tension during acceleration and deceleration, thus preventing belt rupture, coal vibration, belt slip on the drive pulley, uncontrolled running of the belt conveyor, belt fire and other accidents due to ruined safety.
Belt conveyors--Ideal for simple transportation of parts or materials without the need for part orientation, belt conveyors consist of two or more pulleys and an endless loop of the conveyor belt rotated around them.
Fourier transform of noise [S.sub.X] (t, x) can be decomposed into the noise from belt conveyor, [B.sub.X] (f, x), the noise from belt pulley, [P.sub.X] (f, x), and the noise from driving motor, [M.sub.X] (f, x), in terms of frequency, f, and position, x, as shown in (2).
This fluid coupling type was especially developed for demanding belt conveyor applications in mining.
Interroll Light Industrial Belt Conveyors are extremely compact and much quicker and easier to install than conventional conveyors, as they are supplied as one complete modular unit, tested and ready to plug-in and operate.
The order covers design and supply of a long-distance belt conveyor for downhill transportation with a capacity of 19,200 tonnes of iron ore an hour.
Elsewhere, Diario Panorama, Maracaibo, Venezuela, ordered a second Twin-Trak belt conveyor system.
They can generally be split into two categories, screw conveyors and belt conveyors, but there are many other types and offshoots of the two basic concepts.
round belts and are suited for moving small parts, such as thin, card-shaped items that can not be carried stably by a flat belt conveyor. Standard belt lengths between pulleys range from 132 to 500 mm and belt widths range from 10 to 200 mm, with custom sizes available.
