Bidwell-Sacramento River State Park
Location:5 miles west of Chico on River Road (off W. Sacramento Avenue).
Facilities:Family campsites, day use areas (é), picnic areas, restrooms, hiking/nature trails.
Activities:Fishing, river rafting, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, swimming, hiking.
Special Features:Park includes 4 miles of riverfront and preserves a fine example of the riverine habitat, featuring a riparian community once common along the river—tall oaks and cottonwoods with a thick undergrowth of elderberry, wild grape, blackberry, and wild rose. The most popular activity at the park is bank or boat fishing for salmon, steelhead, and shad, but it is also popular for "cruising down the river" on inner tubes, canoes, or kayaks.
