Bikin

 

a city and the administrative center of Bikin Raion, Khabarovsk Krai, RSFSR. Located in the valley of the Bikin River (a tributary of the Ussuri). Railroad station 230 km southwest of Khabarovsk. Population, 19,000 (1967). There is a timber industry, which employs two-thirds of the city’s workers. The city produces construction materials. It was formed in 1938.


Bikin

 

a river in the Primor’e and Khabarovsk krais, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Ussuri. It is 560 km long and has a basin area of 22,300 sq km. It flows mainly within the limits of Sikhote-Alin’. It is fed primarily by rainwater and partially by melted snow. Its largest tributaries are the Al-chan and Bachelaza on the right and the Zeva on the left. The city of Bikin is located in the river valley.
