a seaside health resort in Great Britain, situated on the English Channel 40 km west of Brighton. The climate is moderately humid and warm, with small seasonal temperature variations. Winters are mild with average January temperatures of 5° C, and summers are cool with average July temperatures of 16° C. Annual precipitation is about 700 mm.
