Bol’shoi Karaman


a river in Saratov Oblast, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Volga. It is 198 km long (reaching 220 km in spring, since the headwaters dry up in summer) and drains a basin of 4,260 sq km. It rises in the foothills of the Obshchii Syrt, and flows into the Volgograd Reservoir. It is fed primarily by snow and ground waters. The Bolshoi Karaman is navigable in the spring.
