Borchert, John (Robert)

(1918–  ) geographer; born in Chicago. He taught at the University of Wisconsin (1947–49) and the University of Minnesota (1949–89). His publications include "American Metropolitan Evolution" (1967), "Instability in American Metropolitan Growth" (1983), and America's Northern Heartland (1987). He is an authority on U.S. urban and metropolitan growth.
