Ganondagan State Historic Site
Location:Southeast of Rochester in Victor.
Facilities:Picnic area, interpretive trails, visitor center (é), gift shop, scenic views, gardens.
Activities:Hiking, self-guided tours, group tours (2 weeks advance reservation required).
Special Features:Site of a major 17th-century Seneca town and palisaded granary and the only New York state historic site dedicated to interpreting Native American life. Interpretive signs mark trails where visitors can learn about Iroquois customs and beliefs, about the significance of plant life to the Seneca, and about Fort Hill (the granary) and historic events that occurred there. A replica of a traditional Seneca longhouse is open to the public.
