(bo͞ork-äN-brĕs`), town (1990 pop. 42,955), capital of Ain dept., in Burgundy, E central France. A major transportation hub, farm market, and tourist center, it is the chief city of Bresse. Machinery, morocco leather, furniture, shoes, and ceramics are also made.
