Bovard, Oliver Kirby

(1872–1945) editor; born in or near Jacksonville, Ill. Named managing editor of the St. Louis Post Dispatch in 1910, he assembled a top-notch staff and produced outstanding news coverage. He resigned in 1938 after owner Joseph Pulitzer objected to his emerging socialist views.
