Observations of the near-Earth asteroid 2006 QV89 made on August 11 with the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) have ruled out any potential future impact threat to Earth by this asteroid for the next century.
By comparing images obtained in different wavelengths (colors) from the OMM and CFHT, they were able to correctly detect the planet.
Our spectrum obtained at CFHT in June 2012 has a signal-to-noise ratio of [greater than or equal to] 30 in the continuum between 4300 and 5000 [Angstrom] (and gets to over 100 near H[alpha]) that allows us to study lines in this spectral region.
Indeed, teams examining the same CFHT images on these larger scales argue that flybys of one kind or another have indeed had a profound impact.
The first set of sky images to be inspected in this project is from the CFHT (Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope) legacy survey.
Our team therefore designed and built SITELLE, an iFTS accepted as a guest instrument by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT).
The same flares appeared simultaneously in visible-light observations taken as part of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) Legacy Survey.
Research using the Subaru Telescope, the Canada-France-Hawaii-Telescope (CFHT), and NASA's Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) revealed unprecedented views of the star formation process in this intergalactic context and showed the promise of future investigations of a possibly new mode of star formation, unlike that within our Milky Way.
Using images from the 340 megapixel MegaCam camera on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) from the summit of Mauna Kea, astronomers identified the massive cluster of young stars NGC 1980 to be a clearly separate entity from the main cluster i.e.
Above is a deep frame from the CFHT Legacy Survey of the sort in which the supernovae were detected.
