CUT mode

(Control Unit Terminal mode) An IBM 3270 terminal protocol that provides a single session with the mainframe. CUT is the original method for connecting terminals to IBM mainframes. PC software emulates this mode to communicate with a mainframe. Contrast with DFT mode.
