a genus of herbaceous bulbous plants of the family Liliaceae. The bulbs are small, the leaves are linear, and the flowers are in long racemes. The flowers are rather large, with a pale blue-violet or white stellate perianth. There are five or six species in North America. These plants are ornamentals.
